Ward 4 Community Meeting – Lowes Site Proposal

Wednesday, January 29th at 6:00 PM
South-West Middle School – Auditorium
444 Granite Street, Quincy MA 02169

Dear Neighbor:

As you may have heard the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) is proposing to relocate its bus storage and maintenance facility currently located on Hancock Street to the former Lowes site at 599 Thomas Burgin Parkway. I will be hosting a Community Meeting to allow residents an opportunity to discuss the proposal with MBTA representatives on Wednesday, January 29th at 6:00 pm in the South West Middle School Auditorium at 444 Granite Street.

I have discussed this proposal with many area residents; I appreciate and understand the concerns this proposal raises. I wanted to make sure anyone with concerns has an opportunity to weigh-in and ask questions before anything happens at the site. Please be aware that as a state agency, the MBTA is not required to follow the normal permitting procedure for this project, which would have required a vote by the City Council. As such, the normal public hearings before the City Council, Zoning Board or Planning Board will not be a part of this process. I encourage anyone with questions or concerns to attend this Community Meeting, as it may be the only opportunity we get to tell the MBTA how we feel about their plan.

Sincerely,
Brian Palmucci
Ward Four Councillor
